spoke with the dealer today, he told me that there are only "3" replacement windsheild in the entire United States.
i told him one of them better be for me!!!
That's total BS as my local shop has at least 4 in their inventory.

I was driving today behind a pick up truck and im guessing a piece of rock or debris flew up and hit my windshield right where my line of sight is. It is probably around quarter of an inch long. I don't feel any roughness on the inside of the windshield but definitely feel something on the outside of it. Im afraid that it will spread. What do you guys think I should do? contact my dealer or insurance etc? Any info would be greatly appreciated...
Take it to your local reputable glass shop and have them look at it. If it needs a small repair, have it done, as almost every insurance company out there will cover a small repair for free without increase on your premium. And make sure you do this SOON. The longer you leave it cracked, the more it's going to spread. We had a small pebble hit our windshield (last car) and create a little speck on the driver side near the A pillar, but I couldn't really get it fixed immediately since we were on a road trip. By the time we got to our destination, it was about 1/2 an inch so I contacted my insurance to have safelite come out and repair it. The next morning I walked out side and the crack was 15 inches long!!! $250 later we had a new windshield. Boo!!!

Thanks for your reply Proprioceptive..
I actually called my insurance and they said that since it was small they can do it for free..
They set me up with an appointment with Safelite this morning and just came back. And they did a great job! of course it is impossible to have it 100% removed but I would say atleast 80% of it isnt visible anymore unless you look at it very closely. Oh and the other great thing was that this didnt affect my insurance in any way at all since it was so small.
Hey, glad to help! I would, however, recommend that if you see that chip getting even remotely bigger, you should get the windshield replaced. A crack won't make you fail inspection, but if you get in an accident, you'll wish you'd replaced it. Just my two cents...

YOU GOT YOUR WINDSHEILD REPLACED BY THE DEALER?
MY LOCAL DEALER WANT $200 JUST FOR THE LABOR!
THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO TRACK DOWN A NEW WINDSHEILD FOR ME, AFTERMARKET ONE ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE THOURGH SAELITE YET.
Whoa, bud, easy on the caps.

Anyways, no, I did not get my windshield replaced at a dealership. I didn't even have a windshield replaced. I'm friends with my local window repair shop and recently had my rear glass replaced (tinting mishap) which cost $246 total. They order the part from the dealership and install it themselves. After a lengthy conversation with one of the owners, he mentioned they had 4 windshields in the back and had already replaced two in town in the last couple weeks. They charge $286 installed for the windshield. $200 for LABOR at your dealership??? Sounds like they're a bunch of cons to me.
