Couple months ago i was driving and i guess a rock flew up and made about a quarter size crack right above my rearview mirror.

i got the crack filled so that it wouldnt spread and it wasnt so noticeable so i didnt get the whole thing repaired

yesterday i noticed 1 part of the crack looked like it was bigger, when i stopped i took a better long and i realized that it was about 4 -5 inches longer than what it was previously....

so much for having it not spread now i have to replace my whole front windshield >=|

Does your insurance policy comprehensive cover the replacement of that with no deductible?

I got hit with a stone today and the guy is outside right now filling it.

I don't know if they have a windshield that will fit right since the 2011 is so new.......

I figure I will drive it a few months and then get a new windshield installed....

Some work, some don't....

But with this car being so new, even some of the oil change places don't have it in their computers yet, so I figure I will give it a few months for them to catch up and get the parts in and then I will get new one.......

I just hate driving a new car with a blob in the windshield.. my poor baby got a ding already.....

Could be worse, could be the body......

That was too big a crack to fill and last! Anything bigger than a pea is too big, the stresses are too much, it will do for a few days, but in the end you'd have to replace it.

That sucks. I feel your pain. I think your insurance only covers if you have glass protection extra.
yea my insurance doesnt cover it and neither does Hyundai even with the higher warranty stuff

i know i HAVE to replace the windshield but i called EVERYWHERE local shops, big shops they all tell me that my car doesnt exist yet....

they also said that would try to fit a 2010 sonata windshield on it but id rather have it done the right way

i was even prepared to pay $500 from the dealer to fix this but not even the dealer can get the windshield

i have no choice but to deal with it

A 2010 Windshield on a redesigned 2011 Sonata? Be careful. Why wouldn't your Insurance policy cover Glass? Sure you need

to meet your deductible, but the whole Car should be insured. Every OEM Part!

What is your deductible? If someone took a Bat and broke every window in the Sonata would you not be covered?

From what I found out, the Sonata Windshield was not expensive, unless your unit has the Heated windshield like many

Canadian models did.
deductible is like 700

and the sonata windshield is actually pretty pricey....i spoke to a guy from safelite and he said it would be like 2 months before they can even find a windshield and it would cost about 599

Go back to the company that did your quick fix...

My guy said if I did not like the fix or it didn't work then to call them back and when the windshields become available it would cost me $100 bucks for them to replace the windshield with a new one for me......

All insurance company's and windshield glass company's are different though.....

I think I used safelight or something like that, I got the papers in my glove box.......

No way. My place would take the $40 and apply it to the cost of the new $250 windshield. To set the record straight, all glass is

covered on your Car. All the Tires are covered and the Paint too. Just because a deductible may apply is no reason to say your glass

is not covered. True a few States have a free front windshield replacement law. In Arizona they give you free Omaha Steaks if you use one

company. All sorts of gifts available.

I was driving today behind a pick up truck and im guessing a piece of rock or debris flew up and hit my windshield right where my line of sight is. It is probably around quarter of an inch long. I don't feel any roughness on the inside of the windshield but definitely feel something on the outside of it. Im afraid that it will spread. What do you guys think I should do? contact my dealer or insurance etc? Any info would be greatly appreciated...

That's total BS as my local shop has at least 4 in their inventory.

Take it to your local reputable glass shop and have them look at it. If it needs a small repair, have it done, as almost every insurance company out there will cover a small repair for free without increase on your premium. And make sure you do this SOON. The longer you leave it cracked, the more it's going to spread. We had a small pebble hit our windshield (last car) and create a little speck on the driver side near the A pillar, but I couldn't really get it fixed immediately since we were on a road trip. By the time we got to our destination, it was about 1/2 an inch so I contacted my insurance to have safelite come out and repair it. The next morning I walked out side and the crack was 15 inches long!!! $250 later we had a new windshield. Boo!!!
