I got my baby back today.

In case you missed the original thread, see Bad day for my Sonata

Pulled into the dealer lot this afternoon and there she was, all spiffy and clean.

Popped the hood not knowing what to expect. But much to my delight, it looks superb. You'd never know anyone lifted the hood.

I drove home, about 45 miles, without incident. The car feels fine, you'd never know the engine was replaced.

As for the finer details, the replacement engine has 20K less miles than my original one. I had them install a new thermostat while they had it out. They also installed new spark plugs, and replaced the starter which got damaged in the water. Topped off with oil and new coolant, and there I am, back on the road 12 days later. Cost me $125 and my insurance co 8 G's.

I'm looking forward to some dull, boring rides for now.

Congratulations on getting it back and running. Now remember, cars go on roads, boats go on water!
