Need some direction in troubleshooting my 03 Santa Fe with 225,000 miles.

No Check engine light or trouble codes.

Two things happen.

Some times after running or driving for a bit the engine will just die.

When turning over it will crank but will die if I do not give it gas.

Sometimes just being parked it will crank but will die without giving it gas.

The issue will clear up after getting the vehicle to move a bit.

The engine does run smooth any other time. Regular oils changes. The vehicle has been taken car of. Just do not know where to start with troubleshooting. Thanks for the advice in advance.

Hmm.. I see that engine not seen profile with 2003 Santa Fe 2.4 or 2.7 or 3.5

3 different choice to that chassis, and each has it own quirks..

No location seen in profile, so we dont know where / which market chassis in..

Sorry. I think it's a vacuum issue with 03's and perhaps others. Had a dealer tell me if I ever had starting problems to take the cap off and try again. I've personally not had it happen to me on my 03 Santa Fe but I don't have all those miles. Thought I'd share what I heard. I should have added the background with my original response.

The Evap system should have a vent valve which is normally open
If something like that happens then it could be a faulty vent valve or clogged charcoal canister
However, with OP's symptoms, would try cleaning up throttle plate
And check the TPS

Oh, just understand this is all guess work
