Whats a low water level thermostat? Just let the engine idle with the air con off and you'll soon find out if the fans work.

A low level thermostat lets you know when the water is low ...its put in between radiator and motor.... Thanks for fan info

A diesel engine left to idle will usually cool down on its own.
A petrol engine will usually warm up but is not the case here.
