Noticed an intermittent creaking noise when the vehicle is in motion (low to moderate speed). The noise is not very loud but audible if you turn down the radio volume. It sounds like 2 hard objects rubbing against each other. I am positive it comes from the panoramic moonroof because it only happens if the moonroof is close. The noise goes away instantly if I open the moonroof ever so slightly. It has been intermittent and seems to happen at any temperature.

Anyone else notice this issue?

I realize this is not the same car but I had a similar issue on my 2011 Limited. I solved it by spraying some dry lube around the seals or gaskets. I guess roof and window seals were rubbing together when the car went over bumps on the pavement.

I have the same issue with my car. Very noticeable driving around town on our crappy winter roads. I mentioned this to a couple of co-workers who have owned vehicles with panoramic roofs and it appears that this is fairly common and not exclusive to our Sonatas.

I've had the same problem. The dealer took it into the body shop...they took out and re-sealed the roof panels. Still get the creaking...I'll try the spray-on dry lube. Any specific brand you would recommend?

Thanks for those who responded. Did a search and indeed this looks like a widespread problem for different makes and models. Seems to affect panoramic moonroof vehicles more because there is more glass and weight.

So far the creaking noise on mine is quite subtle. It sounds like drops of rain hitting the glass. Don't notice it all the time unless I turn off the audio. Will check with my dealer in my next visit to see what they recommend - since it is a brand new vehicle and might as well make use of the warranty.

I also have the issue with the glass roof. Its subtle while driving at slow speeds but gets a little bit louder on rough roads or when I hit bumps.

That's my main problem with it - all of our city our roads (and most of the highways) are complete crap, so it creaks a lot.

I thought I was going crazy! I'm getting the same sound, although it sounds like it's coming from the driver side window, not the panoramic moonroof. It comes and goes and is rather annoying.

I experience the problem typically when it's not cold outside, or when it is cold and the sunroof is covered in ice, then it's really bad.

Sorry for the stupid question, but did you spray it from the outside?

I recently brought in my vehicle for routine service and had this issue addressed. The service guys did some adjustment to the moonroof and also sprayed on some lubricant on the seals.

So for the last 2 weeks or so, no more creaking! Not sure if it was the adjustment of the moonroof, or the lubricant, or combination of both that ceased the noises. Time will tell I guess.

I had this problem
The noise was most noticeable in the driver side window, used to irritate me so much. Took the car 3 times to the dealer until they finally fixed it. They had to lubricate something around the roof with some kind of oil they use.

I too, have squeaking sunroof noise. I have a 2015 Turbo with panorama roof. The dealership reported the problem to Hyundai and was told there was a manufacturing defect in early production models. There is no published remedy as of yet. A sunroof specialist engineer from Korea flew to Texas to look at my car. He had them grind off some of the seal on the backside of the movable panel and then apply a thick layer of grease to fill in the gap. When I was told of this absurd method I was totally irate. I can’t believe this is the company policy, take a new car and grind off the squeaking seal until there is a gap and fill it with grease. I wonder if they thought what would happen to the grease in the Texas heat this summer. The service department did such a poor job of reassembling the sunroof, I refused to accept the car. I went home and called customer assistance. They transferred me to a case manager and she said I had a valid complaint. I told her I did not want the car after it had been butchered and wanted them to buy it back. She said that she did not have the authority to that and she would escalate the case to the regional office. I should hear from the in 3 to 5 business days. I am still waiting for their call.

I got a call from the service adviser today and he said they got in a new glass panel and want my authorization to install it. I feel like waiting until I talk to Hyundai customer service before I proceed.

I have the same issue, but I have no idea how to fix it. It seems the headliner is attached with some strong adhesive, which has broken and loosened. You can check by pressing on the headliner between the doors. I get no movement on the driver's side but do on the passenger side. I think this is causing the issue. Any ideas?
