My friend has a Santa Fe which I drive on a fiarly regular basis. It's the 2002 model with a 2 litre, 16 valve turbo diesel engine fitted. It has pleanty of performance (could keep up with my 1.6 litre, 16 valve Toyota) as well as a good fuel economy. My friend gets about 40 miles to the gallon (UK) and can hit 0-60 MHP in about 13 seconds (unladen). Top speed = 107 MPH unladen / 107 MPH with a trialer on the back, a full boot and a full tank of petrol ... so I'm told
I've taken this car on several long trips - even with a trailer on the back (couldn't even tell it was there!). Put the back seats down and you have a massive boot space, but the boot is big without putting the seats down.
There's pleanty of legroom in the back too - even when a tall guy like me puts the seat nearly right back.
The rear seats can also recline.
My friend has the basic accessoried package, but that comes with:
- Remote Central Locking with Alarm And Immobilisor.
- Electric Front and Rear Windows with Drivers master control and cut-out.
- Electril slide and tilt sunroof.
- Power Steering
- Variable headlight angle adjustment.
- Air conditioning
- Driver and Passengers Airbags
- Sony X-Plod CD Changer head unit (only takes single CD's but can have a changer fitted to play normal CD's or MP3 CD's).
For the price you can't really compare it to anything else on the market.
<_< NOTE: If you do go for one, I'd advise a black one - as the plastic trim around the lower part on the outside of the door is a bit soft and my friends car now has a few dents (only small) along this plastic bit where people have opened their car doors into my friends car.
