My stepdaughter reported the windshield wipers not moving the other day on our 2007 Veracruz. Disassembled the wiper assembly and found that the nut had backed off on the motor to actuator and had stripped off most of the teeth. Why they wouldn't locktite this is a mystery to me.

If you have an 07-12, you may want to consider opening this up and locktiting and re-tightening it. I priced it, and it's $700-800 - you can't buy just the motor and the 2 inch arm it bolts to - another complaint I have. Instead, you have to buy a whole assembly of motor and actuator arms. A motor should be about $80-$120, and the first little arm about $5, instead you're getting into a fix that's pushing a thousand dollars, and it could be averted with less than a penny of locktite. I wish I'd have known of this and would have prevented it with 20 minutes of work. I put some liquid steel on it and bolted it back up, I don't know if it will hold or not.

I literally had this happen to me yesterday. I found the nut lying in the well.

I...I was only there for a minute. I had a bit too much egg nog, I'm afraid.

See you there again tonight...
