I just installed a set of Kumho I'zen KW17's last weekend. Great looking asymmetric tire with the new silica tread compound in use on it. Look alot like the Yokohama AVS V901 (in think thats what it is called), but for half the price. If you want high performance winter tires, check these out.
So far, I've had some snow (3 inches), wet snow and rain to contend with. These tires have been GREAT so far.
I'll post back once I encounter the inevitable freezing rain and ice, and let you know on how they perform.

Can anyone recommend a good summer/aqua tread tire for the springtime?

I've got the KW11s on our VW and they have been awsome. The KW11 is a step down from the KW17 but it is an excellent winter specific tire. The KW17 is a "performance" winter tire.

Kumho definitely did their homework when designing an affordable winter tire.

For the Canadians here, another great winter tire is the Nordic IceTrak from Canadian Tire. We also have a set of those that we've been running for 3 years and they are still amazing! They're actually better than the KW11 and are around the same price.
