I'm buying a Sonata at the end of the month from Toronto Hyundai. It comes with 2 keys. We have a son living at home who will be driving the car. They tell us there is no alternative other than to order another smart key at $500.

Anyone know if this is true?

Thanks

You can make the car valet mode buy removing the inner key from the smart key fob. I am not sure if they truly cost $500 for a new smart key.

The owners manual says that "a maximum of 2 smart keys can be registered to a single vehicle" section 4 page 9.
Seems dumb to me. How hard would it be to allow more than 2?

Remember, when both keys are in a car (such as in the driver's pocket and the passenger's purse, or vice versa),

or within range of the car, the car "sees" both keys.

Apparently, "seeing" more than two is simply not possible with the current software configuration.
