HMA announced he stepped down as President & CEO today and will be replaced with another VP from sales.

Though his contract was up I can't help but think the explosive growth & recent issues, perceived or not with quality may have played a part. I spoke with him a few times, as any CEO he was open, friendly, engaging. I can't help but think he'll be sorely missed from not only the sales arena where he started but across the differing departments both nation and worldwide. Any CEO who liked to drive a Santa Fe Sport vs. any car in their lineup is a peoples person and shows his roots.

Good luck JK, someone else will gain a true professional in the near future, after a well deserved long vacation.

Interesting news, if somewhat troubling.

The MPG fiasco was at his watch so he ultimately must share the blame.

Having to rely on huge incentives is no way to bring up the resale prices of the used models. They need to have some hands-on management that keeps everything on an even keel and if need be step back and retrench.

And they shouldn't bring out any new model until it is 100% ready for launch.

Though the MPG issue was on his watch the actual testing was done in Korea, so why doesn't the KIA CEO share blame. In the last few weeks of Q4 HMA has settled the class action's for the Sonata airbag issue which started before his tenure, MPG as mentioned and one other. There most likely be another class in the very near future for one of the vehicles imported from Korea.

The above settlements give the new President/CEO a clean slate, so it all falls on his watch now.

I'll bet a  something like this happens :::::::::: Mulally to Microsoft and Krafcik to Ford, where he started his career ........ unless there's a non-compete clause.

I like John a lot, and wish him well. He was very encouraging and helpful when I bought my 2014 Sonata, just a couple of months ago.

This news was very surprising to me, though-- wasn't he just scheduled for a live chat in a couple of weeks (on 1/7, I thought) with the ThinkTank? (Any mention of it is gone from the ThinkTank site now-- unless I've lost my mind!)
