I have a 2004 1.1 Getz cdx. Checking the oil I have noticed laquering on the dipstick and quite a bit of laquer like deposits inside the filler. It is not a high mileage car 65,000 miles, used mainly for commuting 8 miles each way each day to work and back, plus weekend use and the occasional long run.
The oil is changed twice a year and I'm using COMMA Eurolite 10W/40. a semi synthetic made by Mobil.
The amount of laquering on the dipstick makes me wonder what the oil galleries are like, are they getting clogged up. Is the oil right for this engine, I use COMMA Eurolite in my other vehicle, a VW T25 Camper, with no signs of laquering or sludging at all, but then the VW would probably run with water in the sump.

Has anybody else had this problem, if so what was the cure.

Is the oil right for this engine?

Can anybody recommend a different oil, a friend said magnatex, but as the banks are reluctant to lend money at the moment :whistling:

I am planning to use a flushing oil and a refill and filter change.

That apart the car is running fine!
