I bought a 2011 sonata GLS, basically in base trim with standard radio. I purchased a supposedly authentic hyundai ipod cable on ebay. I went to connect my nano to the sonata and it won't recognize it as an ipod. When I cycle between aux modes, it will only let me choose "aux" or "BT". When in "aux" mode, it will play the ipod but I have to control the song selection with the ipod itself. The car radio controls and steering wheels controls do nothing whatsoever. Also, the nano got fairly hot. Any thoughts?

Hello sbaugz.

You HAVE purchased an authentic ipod cable from eBay.

It will definitely connect your Ipod to your stereo. The stereo will not recognise it as an Ipod though.

You WILL have to still control song selection via the Ipod.

I do know that if I want to get a device which lets some(not all) stereo head units take control of the Ipod then I will be forking out about AUD$100 for the privilege.

If you have bought one of those $12 connector cables then all you've bought is a connector form your Ipod to your stereo head unit. Good value, but not what you want apparently.

Cheers,

Andrew
