i was wondering if any of you guys are using different ipod cable than stock ipod cable that came with the car or you guys bought at hyundai dealership??

i noticed stock ipod cable is really short and i tried using regular white ipod cable but it reads my ipod as USB storage disk, i was still able to play music.

i was looking at these cables

however, before i buy these i was wondering if these cables only works with same company's head unit(navigation/stereo)???
has anyone tried any other ones yet? or recommendations?

All the aftermarket cables are only 4 internal wires.

It just charges through USB and plays the music through the AUX.

The official Hyundai cable has a 5th wire through the USB that allows you to use the steering wheel controls to control the iPod.

If you use the aftermarket cable, you will likely have to control everything from the iPod itself.

Does it not also have some "data lines" which allow you to view (and select) what is on the iPod Touch on the Nav Screen?

These would be separate from the charging wires.
I got my cable when I bought the car and have yet to use it. Been using just a thumb drive.
I used the Hyundai dealer iPod connector and at first it all worked great but now I can only control the iPod, except volume, through the iPod.
The regular steering wheel and radio/console controls don't work with the iPod and the radio display just shows AUX.
Any ideas?
Could the connector cord go bad or maybe the USB connector in the vehicle?

How would I be able to tell?
I guess I just need to take it to the dealer and have them look at it.
