I own an 09 silver Sonata GLS. It's all right and I take good care of it. It does have couple of dings from careless people in parking lots who opened their doors on it. I am planning to buy a 2013 Sonata. However, I am confused about the antenna. In 2011 when the new body style came out, the antenna had that shark fin shape which I though was cool. But in 2012, I noticed that the newer models had the flat antenna. I am being offered a 2013 by a dealer but it still has the shark fin antenna. The pictures online are similarly confusing because no matter what year, most have the shark fin antenna while some of the higher trims have the flat antenna. So which is which. Does it make any difference in reception performance?

It's not that they did away with the shark fin antenna. XM runs through it. Some models don't have XM. Buy the Sonata you like and have no concern about the shark fin antenna.

I may be wrong, but all the Sonatas I have seen - 2011 and newer have he shark fin.
