The plastic threads in the block securing the front passenger hand hold got stripped. I can screw the hand hold back on for aesthetics, but the threads are definitely stripped and now the hand hold won't support much weight.

I would imagine the whole headliner would need to come down to replace that block (not going to happen) so I need another solution.

Any ideas?

Thank you,
Paul

I think Autospark has the right idea! Might not even need to drill the hole larger since its plastic and the new thicker screw will likely go through it easily. Just make sure you don't use a longer screw that goes in too far!

Could use a larger screw
Or go the other way and fill in the hole with something and glue
Then turn the original screw back in

Depends on what you have on hand
And the amount of stress or weight you're going to put on it

I'm disappointed. This fix was too easy. Found a fatter screw with some bigger threads and the hand hold looks and feels good as new. Now I've got to go find something else to fill my day with.
