Hi everyone. Just found this forum. Didn't know there was a Hyundai one :)

Had my 2010 i20 for a few weeks now (1.4 comfort 5door) and have had a weird noise from the windscreen wipers. Whilst the car is in motion (with engine noise and such like) it sounds like a "whirring" noise. Stationary it seems to be quite loud with the engine off. I put it down to being part of the "quirk" of the model. My father though has bought an 09 1.2 3 door comfort. His wipers do not make this noise. He seems to think it might be a lubrication problem with the wiper motors or something rubbing.
It makes this noise even if you lift the blades off of the screen and run the motor but I have had no problems with the wipers themselves as far as cleaning and wiping. Not sticking or anything. Any idea what it may be before I ring the dealer up.

Thanks

Cheers! for the replies guys. Just wanted to make sure really. My dad had a Getz before and was really impressed with the service from Hyundai (Shrewsbury) until a Ford Transit Connect driver recently bent it for him!!!!! I like my i20 but wanted to know if anyone had a problem too with the wipers just because Hyundai (Stoke on Trent-- where I live. Holdcroft Hyundai) are not brilliant. Anyway I shall get them to check. Will get the usual "passed the PDI" conversation from my dealer even though I have had to take it back already to have the handbrake tightened which also "passed the PDI" even though I had to pull it up 15 notches!!!!!! on the slopped driveway that I have.
Reckon it's just a faulty part which can happen with any car. Just wish the dealers can be more strict with what passes through their doors. Hyundai/Kia are really trying. Be a shame if the UK dealers let them down. Some cracking products coming soon.

Finally got my i20 into Hyundai to check the noisy wiper problem. Turns out the wiper motor needed replacing which was done under warranty. 30-60 minute job. I explained it was like that from new and they were unsure how it passed the pre-delivery inspection.
Anyway if you hear a loud "whirring" type noise when the wipers operate it could be the motor is faulty.
