Hi,

I own a 1992 Hyundai Excel (also marked as X2 / Pony-Excel in other markets) and I have to perform an general engine overhaul (186,000 KM)
[G4DG is a 1.3 L Petrol with 8V carburator]

The problem I am facing is that I cannot find parts for my G4DG engine (over-sized pistons/rings and bearings).

When I look online it seems as if the engine code G4DG barely existed.

However I see that there are a ton of Excels that have the Mitsubishi 4G13.

Off hand they look identical but I am not an expert and in desperation I am tempted to try and get the parts I need for the 4G13.

My question is, are the 4G13 and G4DG the "same" engine, just a name change?

Any one had a similar case like mines or maybe someone has some documentation re the G4DG engine to share?

Thanks!!

G4-dj & 4g-13

Hello. Hyundai G4-DJ is 1.5 litre not 1.3. Good news is some gaskets of 4G-15 are the same as the DJ. Except for the location of the distributor and fuel injection system, all internals are very similar. You can find overhauling gaskets, pistons, conrods, etc. for the G4-DJ on Ebay Motors. Just search: G4-DJ
