Discussion Starter #1
I have a 2013 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Grand Touring that I bought brand new and it now has only 24,000 miles on it. It wouldn't start so I had it towed to a Hyundai dealer who said the starter was bad and asked to see my extended warranty because a new starter was $760. I gave them that info and the extended warranty company wanted proof of maintenance. I gave them proof that I changed the oil every year at 4000 miles. They said the oil needed to be changed at 7500 miles or every 6 months and refused to pay for the starter and cancelled my policy.
I was told by others that my original 10 year powertrain warranty would cover the starter but the service rep said it won't.
My original warranty states that the 10 year powertrain warranty will cover anything that is not listed in the "What is not covered" section of the Hyundai new vehicle limited warranty and the starter is not listed there so should be covered.
Has anyone else had this problem and how do you deal with it?

Talk to Hyundai corporate.
Then if needed talk to a lawyer.
There is no maintenance for the starter. They're jerking you around.

Starter is not under the powertrain warrany.

What does an oil change have to do with a 7 year old starter going out?
