Don't know when this happened but it's on the front bumper and grill. More concerned about rust issues since the paint is gone, all I see is the black metal(?) as seen in the zoomed in pic. Can I fix this myself?

Don't worry about rust. This is plastic bumper

I think that this must be repainted because paint is not stratched, it is removed completely and polishing will not help

Trying to touch it up with paint would probably look awful. Needs to be repainted fully by a pro. Got to love cars.

get some matching touch up paint from the dealer, ($20 for a small bottle) will not be 100% normal but it will be decent and a front grill, will take more of a beating as the years go by, The plastic bumper will chip easily from rocks as well

I agree with @armtdm. This is very small. You should be able to hit it with a spot of touch-up paint. Only you will know that it was touched-up. This kind of small ding is inevitable, unless you live somewhere where you never see another vehicle.

Don't waste money on an expensive paint job. You will get it back and something will hit it. All daily drivers get chips on the front end. Buy some touch up paint and do your best to fix it.
