Hi guys; my apologies if this is a re post. Ive had my 2010 limited for about a month now and loving it so far. Only thing that I've noticed is that the rpm when I turn the car on in the morning starts any where between 2- 3k . It goes back down to 1k within 10 seconds or so, but just seems a little high when compared to my previous sonata (2006 LX). This one has a 4 cylinder engine as opposed to the v6 I had on the LX (not sure if that matters). Just wanted to get your opinions on whether that's normal for the car or If I should take it in to the dealer.

My 6 revs like a bugger first thing. Sheesh. Only lasts a few seconds, but man. Gets the oil from the pan up to the valve train in a hurry, though.

Our 06 Sonata and 09 Santa Fe do the same thing. Both rev to 2K for 3 or 4 seconds on a cold start. I don't think it's great for a cold engine but it seems that is just the way it is.

It's normal, just make sure you let the RPM drop to something reasonable before engaging
the transmission.

It does this for emission reasons, to fire the cats off as fast as possible.
