A few days a ago my husband spilled a large soda all over and around the console of my 2011 Santa Fe. He spent a good part of the following day cleaning, shampooing, etc. Well, I guess in the process of cleaning off my automatic shifter, he pushed in the plasitc piece that moves when you shift into gear. Now it's difficult to get fully into park, and it makes a crinkling sound when shifting into gear. Can anyone tell me how to remove the plastic (wooden look) cover so I can see about fixing the plastic? (see pic below to see what I'm talking about.

I may be wrong - but I think you must remove the console not just the piece.

If I recall correctly that piece does just pop out of the console (held in with clips). You'll need to remove the shift knob too though, which just requires pulling straight up with a fair amount of force.

In fact I think you have to get that "wood" piece out to continue removing the console itself.
