I have a 2015 2.4 Sonata Limited with ~126k miles.

My check engine light came on today and I noticed much weaker acceleration and the idle seems high. Every time I came to a complete stop, the car would lunge forward when I let off the brakes.

Here are the codes I have-
Current Fault Log
------------------
P0010: "A" Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit (Bank 1)

Pending Fault Log
------------------
P0011: "A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1)

This car has been using ~ 1qt of oil per 3k miles, the dealer tracked the consumption every week for a while and confirmed this but said they would not do anything until it used 1qt per 1k miles. They advised me to use a thicker oil and I been using 0w-30 and 5w-40 full synthetic. Not sure if any of this is relevant.

The car is out of warranty and my local dealer is not trustworthy.

Has anyone experienced this issue? I have read through some posts and it seems like it might be the oil control valve but I also came across a few people with leaky camshaft phaser plugs which I am not familiar with.

Any help would be much appreciated!

What did the dealer do for the code? Did the 5W40 help with consumption?

I had exactly the same issue with exactly the same symptoms. I just got it fixed yesterday but I left the paperwork in the car. But the fix, from what I can read, was actually kind of ugly. Something about a electric converter cover and one of the plugs came out. There was also talk about oil getting in due to the missing plug. But I could be completely wrong. When I get in the car later I'll try to remember to bring the papers up.

OK, here's what the work order shows, please excuse any typos:

Check engine light is on. Found code P001000 Intake camshaft position actuator circuit. Followed TSB 15-01-022-1. Removed cover and found plug popped out causing oil to fill cover assem. Replaced cover and plugs per TSB. Cleared codes.

Installed 24360-2gga0 : cover assembly
Installed 24351-2gga0 : Plug
Installed 24352-2gga1 : plug

Car only has 23K on it so all work was under warranty.

Use for reference only.. the offending plug was updated after this recall paper come out,, got stuck with one that been upward of 5 or 6 visit for same concern till I got stuck with it,, they do that at our place.. multiple visits,, then I get stuck dealing with it while Larry & Curly get rewarded with "gravy" tickets

Installed 24351-2gga0 : Plug <-- Brown plug,,,,, DO NOT USE !! USE the new 24351-2GGA1 part,, black color

The only thing close to that is (865) 28.00 but I think that's a tech code. Nothing anywhere shows any labor codes.

I'd attach a picture but Google Drive is refusing to download and I'm too lazy to worry about it.

Will this code be wide spread for LF models or a hit and miss problem?

As a data point, mine happened when I started the car on a day when the temperature was -12F.

Just to give everybody an update-

The problem occurred yesterday, but this morning the car ran fine, back to full power, and the idle went back to normal. The check engine light is still on and I was unable to clear the code with the Torque app.

I dropped it off to the dealer this morning and am waiting to hear back from them.

Recall first production, at start, we had lot full of them we could not sell until recall done,, then they start showing up with concern.. this week alone, we have 3, dealer we had to go to has 5 plug on hold for their customers, and sold us the brown plug,, so my 3rd is on hold right now..

Hyundai has since TERMINATED the Recall as of April 2017

I just got the car back, no charge!

They did a few recalls and said my problem was related to the ECM update recall. I am not 100% confident that it is fixed, I hate that it was acting fine when I dropped it off this morning.
have attached the invoice.
