Finally got around to investigating a strange rattle on my 2009 Santa Fe... location was left rear wheel area.

Pulled the tire, pulled the brakes, pulled the rotor... and found a 1 1/2" fender washer lodged behind the rotor.

The washer was resting on the bottom of the shield that protects the brake system... behind the rotor... it was bouncing up and down at every bump making a fairly loud noise.

I cannot determine where it came from... it has a 3 letter stamp "ALC" (see pic attached).

Anyone know where this came from ??? Parking brake???

Thanks for any help!

Okay, thanks all for the advice.

I guess its possible for a fender washer to jump "up" into a very tight area like that and rattle around.

Removal was fairly easy and this gives me some confidence that it did not come from brake system.

Thanks again!
