2013 LWB and gotta say these headlighs suck big time. Just replaced the stock bulbs after 6 years, thinking it was just an old bulb, "they'll be brighter with new bulbs". So I drop $60 on some Sylvaina H11B SilverStar Ultra bulbs and it's better but not by much. Options? LED? HID? Don't think HIDs are designed for halogen projection lens and not sure on longevity.

I don't see a of light in the middle of the road. Maybe the headlights just to be readjusted.

Those projector housing are not designed for HIDs , so you’re better off trying
A better bulb , possibly a bit more wattage. Some use high beam bulbs and modify the bulb socket to fit.. my girlfriend has a Kia that I replaced the stock
Headlight bulbs with LEDs with good results... over 2 years and still going.
They have fans built into the base and make some noise.. thought they wouldn’t last but they keep going, and her lights are on every time she uses the car...

As long as you have a good cut off with the projectors then they will work great with HIDs. You will be disappointed with LEDs if you try both. No need for expensive kits either.

I had a 2013 Santa Fe LWB from late 2013 to late 2017. Shortly after I purchased the 2013, I decided that the halogen headlights had to go. I ordered an HID kit from Diode Dynamics and installed it. The installation was easy, and the quality of the headlights was much better. During the years after the HID installation, I do not recall any oncoming driver flashing their lights as indication of my blinding other drivers. The headlight cutoff was very sharp.


If you choose to replace the halogen bulbs with HID's, make sure that the kit you order comes with H11b bulbs. The one I ordered had these bulbs and also offered several different types of lighting. As I recall, I chose the 5000 color. H11b bulbs fit into the headlight assembly perfectly. I would guess that more of these kits come with H11 bulbs, which would likely necessitate some creative fitting into the assembly to get them to work. The kit I ordered was not cheap (somewhere around $150.00, as I recall), but it came with the correct bulbs. It appears to me that H11b bulbs are not very common.

Picked up some H11 LEDs and an adapter which is basically H11 socket and some spade connectors. I'll get those installed tonight and see how they look. For what I paid for the Silverstar Ultras these were half as much. Also have some HIDs lined up in case these LEDs aren't what I'm looking for.

I put Morimoto H11B HIDs in mine. The light output is ridiculously good, not to mention they look much better than the yellow halogens.

I put Philips Crystal Vision in my Accent 2 years ago, and the light they throw out is great. YMMV...

For those of you that don't want to tinker too much and do HID install and to my knowledge going the LED way it's not there yet for after market bulbs , too much heat dissipation problems.

I did this just a drop in Halogen replacement bulbs.

The best Halogen bulb money can buy.
I'm pretty happy with the results and the amount of work was about 15 minutes.

Don't touch them with fingers or they will burn out faster , use gloves .


I would say about 70-80% more light on the road , they are a brighter .
To get the benefits you sacrifice the longevity.
On average people say 2 years as comparison to the dim yellow 5 years of the OEM bulbs.

Worth the upgrade , and saved me money and a hack job installing HID bulbs.
I assume in a couple of years there will be a quality LED drop in bulb replacement until then these bad boys are great.

After about 20 hours of research I reached the conclusion that quality LED replacement is in the $120-$170 range with a bunch of modifications to be able to cool them and keep the headlights assembly sealed .

Anything under $120 will look cool but have no light output on the road .

Check you owners manual and see what bulbs you need.
H7 ,H8,H11
And just buy that type of bulb for your car.
They come in all sizes all depending on what bubs you headlights are using.
For the Elantra it has H7 for high beams and H11 for low beams.

I assumed you have halogen instead of HID? You can use LED but to get a good high quality set can be pricey, personally I prefer HID over LED but LED are way easier to install than HID imo. Don’t cheap out on either ones because you want what’s best for your ride

I just picked up 2016 SF limited ultimate with factory HID, needless to say I was disappointed with output and cutoff. so Last night I drove around with my wrench and adjusted them took 3 times to adjust them perfect (Clean cutoff and not blinding anyone had my wife drive behind me why I was in my sonata)and wow they work great. I think my 2018 sonata with the LED int lights need adjusted because they are terrible compared to these. Have you tried adjusting yours just a thought.

You don't happen to have any source material for how to do so anywhere handy do you? I've seen various videos and the like but they're all for the Halogen light adjustment rather than the HID adjustment. I'm having a **** of a time seeing in the dark here with the general lack of streetlamps, luminescent pain, catseyes, and the constant deluge of rain in the PNW.



I'm hoping an adjustment can bring the lights into effectiveness because otherwise I'm going to have to try replacing them.

Goodbuy, if you already raised your headlights then I’d suggest you shouldn’t do it anymore because all you’ll be doing is blinding the oncoming drivers. With LED you’ll only see a short distance and like I mentioned before it will not project as far as HID. You see all of SF comes with projectors NOT reflector so installing LED will only look good in a short distance, either you go with halogen or upgraded to a good set of HID which I think will suit you better.
