Hey folks, I have a problem. I have a 2000 hyundai elantra that i am doing a timing belt change on. Well, everything has gone smoothly until i tried to remove the balancer bolt. I have a chain wrench around the outside of the harmonic balancer which stops it from spinning. The problem is that the rubber on the inside of balancer allows the unit to spin and I cannot get the bolt loose.
Please help!!

Might need a good impact gun largest foot pounds if torque you can get.

Or wreck the pulley, separate the rubber get wrench around the remaining metal.

Then get replacement pulley.

Santa06, I got it off! I went to Lowes and bought a Kobalt electric impact wrench that has 345 lb max torque. I really didn't think it would work but it did. Thanks for the quick response. Hopefully this helps someone else.

Yes you really need a good impact wrench for the pulley bolt. The only other option is to wedge a spanner on there and flick the starter with the ignition disabled.
