Can anyone recommend a solid and reliable roof rack for XD elantra? (decent price, not too expensive I guess).

I need to carry 4 summer ties (with rims). Don't need to use the rack all the time but when I do it has to be sturdy.

(and I guess I'll have to be careful with tying up the wheels on rack properly before hitting the road. I'm thinking using ropes or something).

Are you heading south for the winter? Shouldn't need summer tires in Ontario till like august, eh?

You would need a 4ft. by 4ft. cage rack or something...

Wow... They're expensive... This might work with a little mod or two to make the tires fit...and its cheap

a set of cheap ratchet straps is what you need... Once you have the rack secured well to the roof.
