I was at the local dealer here in the Phoenix area to have a noise checked out. After we found it to be the new tire noise, I was told I needed my "Fuel line air filter" inspected and or replaced. WHAT? I went through my manual which indicated to inspect every 30K, but nothing about replacing, and also indicated (if equipped). I called the dealer in Illinois where I bought it and asked. They told me there is no separate fuel line air filter. It is a closed system within the gas tank. Dealer wanted to charge me $175.00 for the service.
WHO IS CORRECT???

More sad news. Another Service Manager making boat payments with assistance of his staff.

There is a device that your 2nd dealer didn't seem to realize exists (it really is called the "Fuel Tank Air Filter", down on the tank and is part of the evap emission control), and that your 1st dealer wanted to replace .. quite unnecessarily. So really, that's 0 for 2.

Again. Sad.
