Howdy, I am replacing my front bumper after an accident that damaged the bumper, radiator support and grill but not much else. Car is a tough little bugger!

While waiting for parts, I have the hood secured manually and the broken parts of the bumper & radiator support (top part) off and I am still driving the car.

My question is: What to do with the front impact sensors FIS for the airbag system? They can't just hang there safely, so would it be ok to simply unplug them (key off, battery negative cable disconnected 1st) and have a warning light / error code?

Other options are tie-wrapping / taping to something secure in front of the radiator, or completely disabling the entire airbag / restraint system.

I should have the parts and do the repair job in 2-3 weeks so I do not mind driving with no airbags for that short time.

Any thoughts or help appreciated!

If it were me, I would simply use nylon tie wraps to secure the sensors. I am with you, just letting them dangle is not a good idea.
