2013ElantraGT.
Dead battery - my fault fell asleep with radio on (while stationary of course!).
Wanted to open tailgate to get jump starter, but trunk had locked itself. Wouldn't open with key fob.
Opened rear door, folded seat and retrieved jump starter.
Started car OK.
Fuel gauge on trip computer had indicated 150 miles left before this, but after restarting with jump battery it indicated 'Empty - no miles left'.
2 questions -
1. How do you stop tailgate locking itself?
2. How do you restore correct fuel available?

The tailgate is electronically controlled, there is no mechanical linkage. No power = closed tailgate.

The remaining miles left on the fuel gauge is calculated based on your driving history and the amount of fuel left. When the car battery dies and you bring it back to life, the car can still figure out how much fuel you have left, but it doesn't have any record of your driving history as the memory got erased. Keep driving and eventually it will figure itself out again.
