Fastest You've Gone In The Yf?

Ok fess up. Fastest you've gone? A few weeks back I went 160, which is actually the fastest I've gone in any car (my previous CR-V would get a little 'unstable' above 140 heh).

Now I did this on the freeway in a 100 zone. I'm actually quite nervous now, because if I was caught by a camera I will have my license suspended for 12 months and probably get a huge fine. :(

I'm also upset at myself because in the manual it states not to 'race' the engine during the first 1,000 km.

I've done 90...I'm not confident in the hankooks to go any faster.....
160???? You do mean kmh right??

Fastest I've gone is probably 110mph on a clear highway. Felt like I was going 50mph.
I have gone 80 or 85. No need to go any faster on public roads. Tire goes our or a cop and have a nice time ahead for yourself. People who spend must have money to burn. Tickets, insurance, and the cost of fuel. Drives me crazy to see people speed in construction zone. SLOW DOWN!
90 (once I figured out that stoplights timed for 45 mph also work at 90 mph).
Yes, 160 km/h = 100 mph approx. The speed limit was 62 mph. Yes, I feel very stupid... (and yes there was another car involved).

i bet you they also work for 135mph  :innocent: :whistling:

and i will not comment on my driving habits.
160kph = 100mph.

That's not that fast. I'm extremely doubtful that they Sonata could do 160mph, but it's not impossible, it's got somewhat low drag, if the gearing was near perfect for that speed 200hp might actually take you there. It would need to be where the rpms were high enough to give near max HP at that speed. I'm sure it would take forever to get there though. I've done 131mph (210kph) it felt like the car had a lot more in it, but I have a manual.

Of course someone from So Cal. I was going to say, if the freeway is clear, we have a whole lane of people usually doing about 90.

LOL, I occasionally forget that about SoCal, there are certainly times if you're not doing 90mph, you'll get run over. I've seen people "cruising" at 80mph in the "slow" lane...

As far as top speed, I believe I briefly hit about 105mph once while passing a couple cars on a divided road. I was quite surprised at how quickly I got there. It was a two lane highway, one in each direction, and they were cruising below the 65mph limit so I pulled out to pass them and jumped on it. As I began to merge back into my lane, I looked down and noticed how fast I was going; I truly had no idea. These cars are actually quite stable at higher speeds. One thing is for certain, if you hit it in the "sweet spot", they've got plenty of grunt for a "four banger". I used to have a 98 BMW 528i, which is comparable in size, and even it did not accelerate as quickly as the Sonata. I can only imagine what the turbo will be like.

The only issue I really see is that the turbo is only available in Automatic. I don't like that but I know that's where most of the market is. I'm sure the turbo will be pretty fast at freeway speeds. I'm sure it will be a 155mph+ sedan.
I got my car all the way up to 71mph and the "eco" light went off  .......so I had to slow down.
Speed limit on my local Interstate (I75) is 70 MPH and a lot of folks are doing closer to 75.

I've done a bit over 80 on it while passing others but that's about it.

Next time I'm "cruising" at 70+ I'll have to check my MPH too.
i had mine up to about 105 on the turnpike. just for a brief time. coming into the 45mph easy pass lane on the left, a v6 mustang had to come from behind and pass me on the right, just so he could slow to 45 right in front of me at the toll. obviously i had to return the favor on the other side of the toll. no problems passing him, even though he was trying not to let me get ahead... :)

If it were a 2011 V6 mustang it would have ate you alive. The V6 mustang totally sucked till the 2011, only took 50 years or whatever... Now any "mustang" is fast. That's how it always should have been. But ya, all the other V6 mustangs were really slow.
I took it up to 110 one day on the way home from work. Felt great, no shakes or rattles. Would like to know what the top speed is though.

Sad thing is, it probably would have been getting the same gas mileage too.
