A pulley wheel running the fan belt attached to the alternator came off in my new i20 (driven 4700 KM only) because the bolt on which the pulley sits broke into two. I identified this problem wen my AC stopped cooling and I noticed that the battery warning light was on. Due to this, the entire engine oil drained off and I am not sure how much my car must have run without the oil. The low oil indication light was surprisingly not on. Would this have damaged my engine enough for me to worry about? Also, how common or rare is it for bolts to break like this? I intend to write to the company to investigate the entire car.
