I'm in Canada also and the dealer suggested 2500 would be my extended warrenty choice on a used Tucson with 67k. Now I'm wondering where the extra grand they want is going.

In their pockets!
Rather than pour money into those warranties, go to a casino.
The House always wins in the long run.
At a casino you at least get to see some blinking lights while your wallet gets lightened.

If you do your research, you can find that the average cost of repair for a warranty claim is $800. So if you pay more than $800 on a warranty, "statistically" you're losing money. Like circuitsmith said. The house always always wins. Just think about it logically, if THEY were losing money, they wouldn't offer it.

The only reason people buy extended warranties is because the dealership conveniently spreads the 1500-2500 over the 5-7 years. After they try to scare you into feeling like you need it, they then offer it for a 'mere' ~$20 a month.

So, what a Are you saying, get it, or not get it.
Is the 5 year comprehensive warranty offered by Hyundai enough?

What we're sayng is that it's totally up to you. And there's no way to tell if it's worth it until after it's over. But statistically speaking, going by averages, it is NOT a good deal. It's NOT worth it.
