Since I bought my Sonata used, my warranty expires at 5 years/60K, in about 2 years based on current mileage usage. Around that time I am planning on purchasing an extended warranty. Not sure if I should purchase a Hyundai EW or go third party. I had a third party EW on my Saturn that extended coverage to around 105K with a $50 deductible per incident for exactly $743, (found sales receipt). It more than paid for itself over the years.

I'm assuming that with a Hyundai EW, I must go to a Hyundai dealership for warranty repairs, same as with current factory warranty. I'd be interested in hearing any experiences, good or bad, regarding EWs, Hyundai or third party. Any reccomendations for third party EWs? Do I even need an EW for a 2009 Sonata? Thanks in advance!

Certainly the earlier you buy the coverage, the "younger" the car -- the less you'd pay.... Don't wait too long....
True, but I'm also looking to extend coverage to well over 100K, where most of the big repairs occur due to age of vehicle and its parts. I probably will purchase around 50K ,which should be early 2012, hopefully early enough to save on EW cost yet late enough to extend well into 100K area. That may change once I get pricing on EWs at various mileages.

Visited my local Hyundai store today and found that the "Factory" EW sold by Hyundai USA is a 3rd party administered policy not associated with Hyundai. Just offered by Hyundai and sold by the dealer. I believe he said it was a JMA product good anywhere in the US at any licensed repair facility. Beware Hyundai does not back the EW sold by the dealer.

Again, I recommend any product offered by Zurich group. We sell it, I bought it, and my customers use it with no ill effects or complaints.
What is JMA an acronym for? Also, tried to find info on Zurich group, only found www.zurich.com but no info on EWs. I'm trying to compare coverages between different companies to see which has the better coverage.

My last EW was with National Auto Care Corporation and their coverage seems pretty complete to me - http://www.natlauto.com/images/PDF/Pinnacle.pdf

I wish it was easier to price these EWs out online, but as usual getting ANYTHING from an insurance company involves lots of hoops and red tape. :wink2:

Thanks again guys, I appreciate your responses!!
