Hi guys. First post!
I've out a bit of info in the greeting section, so feel free to say hi.

I'm looking at a 1999 excel, but unsure if it's had an engine swap. Are you guys able to help out in identifying if it's legit the 1.5 twin Cam that came with the 99/00 Aussie delivered excel?

Well, your car might say Excel on it but I'm guessing it's actually what is sold as a X3 (MK1) Accent else where in the world. That engine wouldn't fit in the original Excel that came with the Mitsubishi engine (the car this forum relates to) because the Mitsubishi engines are made back to front. In other words the gearbox is to the off side of the car on a Mitsubishi engine. That's a Hyundai Alpha engine (G4FK, I think) which was standard fitment in some X3 Accents so I'd say it's probably original.

Thanks very much for the info. As long as it's an x3, I'll be ok. I had a look at other 99 and 00 models which have the same engine design, so I think it's original, too, and not a swap.
Appreciate the input.

The later twin cam X3's came with the silver cover as per our later Accent's :)
So yes there's every chance it's the original engine.
