Hello! I'm new to the forum and don't work on my car.
My mechanic looked at the EPS & ESC OFF lights (lit up) on my dash. He says I need steering column replacement for $1700. He says he called Hydundai dealership to confirm this problem is not uncommon. If this is true, not sure if my car is worth spending this much money on.
If my car information doesn't show below, here it is:
I drive a 2010 Elantra Touring GLS with 54,489 miles.
Thank you!

I'd confirm the fault. Steering angle sensor faults require the whole column. I've just had to do one on ours which is 2010 but with 220000Km. . Over here we'd find a good used one at a wrecking yard. $1700 seems excessive if you can get the column for $900USD

I'd expect GLS has height and telescopic adjustment.

If you get a used one, replace the plastic coupler bush before it gets fitted, also a common fail.
