Is it normal for my Sonata to have a lifter rat tat tap noise when I first crank it on humid days or in the morning? I'm hoping my first oil change fixes it.

I believe that's the normal noise for all direct injected engines. There's less of it when the engine is warmed up.

Ever notice how Diesel engines have an audible ticking noise? That's because diesel engines are direct injection. The sonata uses the same technology with its GDI engines.

All cars are going to have valvetrain noise, but 4 bangers are the loudest, regardless of fuel delivery method. The noise on my Limited is pure valvetrain, and I have to say is a bit louder than Hondas, but not by much. You can hardly hear injection/pump noise on this car due to the heavy a$$ insulation under the engine cover; just remove it and see how much it weighs. So yes, it's normal.
