There is a recall 132. Mine failed at 118K miles. Just knocking but they replaced it.
They will give you a new long block most likely.
Reusing the injector pump and injectors and all the accessories.

Good luck

Just had my engine approved for replacement (215,000km). Same issue driving along and it died. Took about 30 seconds to go from normal to noisy (knocking) to stall. Dealership took pics and a video. Hyundai asked for more pics. They had to take it apart more.

In the end they did the right thing and approved the replacement.

Good news,
Hyundai is going to replace my engine.
I submitted all my paperwork in regards to proper oil canges.
They would not give me a loaner but oh well, I can walk a couple more days or so, eh.
That is a good deal as the vehicle in question is still in very good condition.
Thank you for your replies.
sincerely,
tj

Big long page running elsewhere in here.. been replacing engines for short of 3 yr I want to say,, and still replacing engines..

Seeing you is in Canada, I dont know what the run time is up there,, here in USA we have to test if here for recall, or if knocking complaint, it come down to drop pan and submit to Hyundai "PA" for "QQH" long block replace

Current lead time for engine from Hyundai been not quite a week, then to fit it into shop activity for replacement when engine arrive,, actual labor is 1 day, give 2 for any issues for install

They may not have had a choice if this happened while the recall is still open, doesn't Hyundai Canada bear the same responsibility for replacing engines with crank bearing issues. I had heard there can be no exclusions based on vehicle mileage or maintenance (lack of) while recall is open.

As I've stated it is not at all a bad thing for the engine to fail while the recall is open, because once it's closed and vehicle out of warranty the owner may have to incur the expense.
