my 2010 Sante Fe Limited engine was replaced
by Hyundai/Fidelity with a re-manufactured engine.
Engine oil pump failure... metal in pan ,
compression test/oil on spark plugs....
5k labor, plus 5k for a long block engine
with all new parts.

Hyundai and Fidelity and the Dealership came
thru for me. Engine runs QUIET and more power.
Plus I didn't have top buy a new car.

Pays to have your car serviced at the Dealership
at mfg recommended schedule. With all the horror stories
you hear about aftermarket warranties/etc... more of the
GOOD stories need to be posted

I hear ya!

I have the dealer change the oil/filter, that way if anything goes wrong its in their computer system and on their dime.

Steve:

Was that the 4 or 6 cylinder engine, and how many miles on it at the time? The number of third party warranty companies that will honor the contract without a bunch of hemming and hawing is growing smaller by the day. Our '11 SF V6 turned over 50K recently, and so far the only issue (knock on wood) has been a dead alternator right before the warranty ran out. I had the dealer do the oil changes while warranty was in force, but do them myself with Mobil 1 and oem filter now.

I thought powertrain warranty was 10/100.

Powertrain is 10/100 to original owner.. basic is 5yr/.60,000

Alternator is a 5/60 part.. it is not an internal lubricated engine or transmission part

Yes, you are right with alternator and second owner but the post does not state if he is original owner or second. He is stating that he is now changing the oil himself, but I don’t think that his car has the 100k miles, again if he is the original owner.

Five thousand dollars in labor??? That really is ridiculous. Does Hyundai Corporate pay that to the dealer???

4 cylinder price is approx $5500 I think, add the 2 service kits and hose that come as part of package,,, and Hyundai only pay us for 8.5hr labor to swap on a warranty engine replace, add 18 minutes for turbo engine..

We bought it at 3 years old with 18K. The comfort, power (275hp), and AWD have been well worth the $17K we paid for it.
The mpg is not much better than my 04 Durango with it's 330hp Hemi though.

What engine? Mileage? Was it running poorly for awhile or just acute failure?
