Hi
I am having a problem with my 2.0 diesel Santa Fe it is manual transmission.

When I stopped the car the other night turned the ignition off the dash lights continued to flicker then eventually went off. Another day l was sat waiting with the engine ticking over and all lights were off, a friend went past and informed me my headlights were flickering.
I have noticed that there is a chattering noise coming from the alternator and if any electrics are switched on the alternator noise gets louder.

Does anybody have any idea what the problem may be I don't want to buy an alternator just in case it may be some other related problem

Cheers

John

You need to take your car and have the electrical system load tested. Around here they do it almost anyplace for free which sells batteries.

Solved

Hi
Since putting up my help request l have since discovered that one of my stop taillight bulbs had shorted out internally so that every time l had my brake pedal pressed it would cause a short through the side lights which caused an intermittent flicker, bulb changed problem solved.
Cheers
