A tour bus overturned this morning while traveling along the 210 Freeway in Irwindale, California.
No one killed in the crash but dozens of people were injured. According to KTLA, at least 50 people were injured in the crash and six were airlifted to a nearby hospital. Authorities said that none of the injuries were life threatening.
The accident occurred around 10 am on the eastbound side of the 210 freeway. The Da Zhen Bus was on its way to a casino when it tried to change lanes and clipped the back of a black Hyundai Elantra. Melody, the driver of the Hyundai, said: “The next thing I knew everything was just going really fast and we all kind of swerved over here to the right side and the bus flipped over in the back.”

Looks like the Elantra got the better deal in this accident.

It's not everyday that a compact car win out against a bus like that. If I was driving that Elantra, I would had been headed to the casino with that amount of luck going for me that day.

I dunno... I think that miracle used up a couple years worth of their luck.

OK, I get how Elantra is lucky, but how the heck the bus got tipped over?
The driver must have been inexperienced.

Mass of the bus comparing to this little Elantra is like an elephant to cheetah. Cheetah would bump on elephant and... that's it. Elephant is still walking.

The only explanation is that the bus driver turned too violently when he heard the noise taking RISK of 50 people he had on board. That's not right.

Actually, I was on a bus when similar accident happened. We were on a left lane going whatever 40 -50 MPH or so. A car on right lane wanted to change the lane or go around some obstacle. The bus driver did see his intention, so he hit the brakes (not so hard though) slightly moved to the left and then we heard long "bumpy-scratch". The car "clipped" the bus. Nobody was injured, the other car got severely damaged to the drivers front corner.

Anyway, the point is - know what you can do with your vehicle.

You read my mind. I was talking to a friend last night. We sat there and watched the video like 5 times, trying to understand how you try to switch to the left lane, and you end up swinging a right hook after a fly hits your windshield. Makes -no- sense. Although we're all glad nobody was seriously hurt, just smh.

No matter how a bus hits you if you come out looking that good you win.
You make a good point. Any accident you can walk away from is a good thing. I see some that aren't so fortunate. And why someone on a bike wouldn't wear a helmet is beyond my comprehension. Neurosurgery is not fun...if you even make it to that point.

Chinese drivers are the worst and best drivers. Going straight in an 18 passenger bus, a car makes a right turn, speeds up to pass us, and cuts in front of us. No road rage, no horn, no gestures, no signals - but expected in China, because that's what they do. The only time horns are used if no one is moving.

We learned that walking in the crosswalk with a green signal does not entitle us to get to the other side safely. Drivers doing right turns sweep around and get within inches of you to complete that turn. Never had seen anything like it.
