Hi there everyone,

I have a 1998 J2 1.8 GLS that heat seized. All the necessary repairs were done but when you the engine cranks it takes up to 5min before she starts, and the idling is very rough. Am I missing something???

I don't know why but without any further information, my mind went right to timing belt not correctly installed.

what is the correct way to set the timing? The way I have it is no1 rock and TDC. Should it be 5 or 10 degrees before?

No you align the marks and fit the belt. I assume it runs fine at higher revs?
As you have had a lot of work done, there could be an air leak on the inlet side? Check gaskets and hoses.
Otherwise try resetting the ecu (see other posts) and the functioning of the idle control valve.
