Are the upstream and downstream sensors the same? I see the upstream one is much more expense but then I saw one that said universal up/down stream. The upstream one is on top of the engine, correct?

Upstream is Pre-Catalyst,, exhaust from cylinder hit it and carry on into the catalyst,, it used for fuel trim...

Downstream is Post-Catalyst,, it is used to monitor the efficiency of the ceramic brick in the manifold..

Top sensor is a 6-wire,, hence the high cost,, use Hyundai supplied part there

Bottom is std 4-wire, but advise use Hyundai part there also

Hi Russel,
The original Pre-cat sensor in my '09 was a heated NTK Air/fuel sensor. It is not so expensive, i replaced mine 2 weeks ago. I had P0171, P2414, P2195 and P0170 codes, the car smelled like fresh human crap for a couple of days, and the smell may impregnate over clothes, so nasty...

The best price i found was Rockauto, at $88 NTK-24353.
Note: Reset code before starting the car after reinstall.
