Any techs in here know what to do with the ECS light being lit up after changing the steering column? Checked everything and can't figure out why the light is on, it's the light with the car that looks like it's sliding WITHOUT the ''off'' underneath. I'm assuming it just needs to be reset, any thoughts?

+1^^^^^^^^ Probably related to the Steering Angle Sensor in the Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) System requiring calibration.

Likely SAS calibration.. due to new steering column.

Who did the column and why was it replaced ?

Need to hook up GDS and go through all the MDPS basics and make sure all proper set up.. dont know where VIN comes into play.. VIN is written to PCM for emission purpose.. MDPS not need to know VIN.

Software Management will entail SAS calibration, and set steering to desired level.

Hit the ECU update screen for applicable open update, most 2011 will find a "H Frame" update available for MDPS, then after update, clear all DTC in all the modules, then do the Software Management work as prompted after the MDPS update.

It was replaced because I had a defective steering wheel column. It was done at my body shop because hyundai refused warranty due to lowering springs. It was actually a Used steering column. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Defective ??

Clarify ?

Lower springs has nothing to do with column, column just turns pinion gear on rack to move rack left/right..

Replacement column.. full GDS run through for MDPS update, Software Managment in MDPS for steering angle calibration and steering recognition..

Plan on roughly 1hr shop rate dignostic time for use of GDS to go in and update/calibrate everything.. have them print associated screen shots to show you that work was completed.
