I was at my Hyundai dealer today for an oil change and they said that there was a recall out on the cars software. They plugged it into the machine to do an "update". All I can say is the car felt quite a bit peppier after. Anyone know what the recall is specifically about??

Could anyone let me know in english what this TSB means, and what it is updating? I took delivery of my Accent before Sept. 8, so I know I will be getting the update at my first oil change, but it is not listed on hmaservice.com, and the attached PDF file in the thread does not really mean much to me.

Thanks!

It is not a safety issue. Relates to the engine control computer - emissions and driveability. My dealer said it will take about an hour to do.

IF your car was produced before Sept. 8, then it is.

The Technical Service Bulletin states the applicable cars are those produced from the Start of Production (SOP) to around September 8.

VIN check via WEBDCS will answer the question... had 3 that was shown on WEBDCS to have open campaign, all 3 came back ECU upgrade already done..

Hyundai does not know when/where the update started in production... just like the overlapping subframes in recall..

Toyota knows every last detail about their builds, all way down to last part on pallet To VIN "X" and new parts on next pallet to VIN "Y" and later.

This is a "passive" computer update- If your car is at the dealership for other service, they'll check to see if yr car needs it.

I stopped in, told them I knew about it; they checked the VIN and scheduled the "fix".

Call yr service
dept and ask.

I received a call from my Hyundai dealer saying there was a recall on mine and I needed to call back and schedule an appointment. Probably the same recall as everyone else.

Serviced mine yesterday. Just a diagnostic logic update (how the P-code is triggered) and no safety issue at all. At least that's what the tech told me.
