The government in the UK are pushing ahead with the introduction of E10 (10% BioEnthenol) fuel replacing the current 95RON Unleaded fuel which is 5% BioEthenol and also removing 97RON from sale. Cars built before 2011 are unlikely to be able to use this fuel meaning these cars will be worthless and unsaleable once 95RON disappears from the forecourts.

My wife has a 58plate 1.1L i10 as a run around that only has 25K on the clock and is perfect for her needs. Anyone any thoughts on fuel compatibility with this car.

It's the fuel system components that would be harmed by the ethanol. I've been using it here in the states since the late 70's. It's hard for me to believe that manufactures will still use components that the ethanol dissolves, mostly plastic and rubber parts.

I've just done a quick search and all Hyundai cars post 2003 are apparently compatible with E5 (already used on forecourts) and E10.

I'm guessing this is relevant across the world although an Australian reference site. Having said that BMW had issues in the past when their cars weren't compatible with unleaded. Some UK versions of their engines didn't have the hardened cylinder liners required to use unleaded fuel.

You're correct. I didn't even notice the au bit.
I'm certain that there would be some sort of process to get cars onto the E10. Two years isn't a long time at all. Especially on this scale.
I am off work Friday so I'll send a few messages to Hyundai and see if they can shed any light on the issue. I certainly can't afford to buy a new car just because the petrol is changing. I was in a fortunate position to be able to make use of the scrapper scheme in 2009 to get my car I own now.
