Hi,

I have a 2003 i30 with a 1.6L petrol engine. I need to replace the belt which drives the alternator, water pump, air con etc. from the crankshaft pulley. This used to be called the fan belt, but there is no fan involved any longer, so I guess it is simply called the drive belt now.

How do I adjust the idler pulley to adjust the tension on the new belt? There just seems to be a single bolt in the centre of the idler pulley. If I loosen this can I then move the position of the idler to set the tension on the new belt? Is it spring loaded to apply the correct tension once released?

Thanks for reading this.
