My GLS came with the Door Edge Guards, Have any of you removed them ? I am considering removing mine as they just seem to get in the way when washing and waxing plus it seems like a good place for rust and corrosion to start.

I didn't get any on mine, but the Rentals that I sometimes drive (gls models) come with them, I'd take them off if it was my car.

Mine has them and I haven't gotten around to removing them yet. Just haven't made it to the store yet to get some Goo-gone or something to get the residue off. Though I did remove the plastic dealer decall the other day using gasoline to remove the tape so I might just try that. Might not have to remove them anyway since it's 105 degrees here and they seem to be falling off themselves.

I got the Sonata from Palmer's in Mobile and they dealer traded with another dealership that i can't remember off the top of my head, but it had one of those dealer add-on stickers with the price of their additions.

$600 for the door edge guards (soon to be removed)
$600 for a gold pin stripe (removed by my dealership)
$800 for nitrogen

They had a GLS with Nav all the way up to $28k.

We put the molding on the Sonata's at work. I'm 50/50 on them. I hate them because they seem to come off easily because of how rear door edge curves but at the same time it would really protect the door if the wind took it.

Mine was up to 29,500 with the dealer tag. they call it "the protection and appearance package". i refused to pay for any of it. so i nixxed the warranty extension, but they left the stripes and guards on the car. the pin stripes look ok on the silver, they used black and gray. but if i had gold on a dark car, id remove it too.

youd think for a protection package at that price, they would throw in some splash guards and a car cover... and about $1000 change

600.00 for door edge guards?? Are they made of 14K gold?? Thats craziness!! It might be cheaper to fix a chip in the paint on a door edge...

Clear door edge guards on all four doors, part of my $475 clear mask. Same clear material and you can't even tell that they are there. Basically , the door guards , both mirrors, rear lower trunk lip, inner door handles, done from the complete front end clear mask scraps.
Then ad $100 for all windows and sun roof tint.

Fair price for above:

Door edge guards (Pep Boys) $20.00 U cut to length and press into place.
Pin stripe (probably tape) $60.00 Pro installed.
Nitrogen Free with tire purchase or maybe $50.00 if ya really gotta do it.

I see you're in NJ, did you go to Brad Benson? I had basically the same thing. I think the "dealer price" on my se with navi was up to $30,000 or something like that. My salesman told me straight up that they just add all that stuff so they can then take it all off the price of the car and make you feel like you're getting a great deal.

The profit margin on the stripe tape is f'ing crazy!! I buy wholesale of course and I can buy 1 roll of stripe tape for about 10 bucks, you could probably do quite a few cars with just one roll! So actual cost can't be more than a dollar or two per car plus labor (takes 2 mins to put on) $600 is f'ing crazy!!!!!!!!!!

Freehold Hyundai... not my favorite dealer from years past, but the closest. The factory tag was $26,495, basically an SE with every little option available. then the dealer mark-up another $3000. I ended up getting the car for a little under 26k... with the stripes and guards still on it.
