I just purchased the 2018 Tucson value edition yesterday. While test driving the car with only 8 miles on it, the sales guy switched the drive mode to sport, then to normal. For a split second he was able to turn on the "eco" mode, but it turned back off. I read the manual, thinking there was a special way to activate the ECO Mode, but it just showed the cycle of Normal--> ECO --> Sport when clicking the button. I called him today and he explained that the "green light" that I saw on the dash under the RPM area may have been a different light indicator and that only some models have the option, and mine most likely doesn't. I've tried clicking it fast, double clicking, and holding down the drive mode button, but it still doesn't appear. Does anyone know if it was a system glitch or if my vehicle has it, but I just am not using it correctly?

I though they got rid of ECO with the 17 model.

I have the Limited Ultimate and there is no ECO, only normal and sport. I believe I read someone else stated that normal mode was already set to get the best fuel economy. Not sure if this is across all model trim levels.

Madison King, refer to your owners manual to confirm that 2018 Value edition is equipped with all three (Normal / Eco / Sport ) modes. Believe may be stated on pages 5-80- 5-81 (2017 manual has it located there). I believe 2016 may have been last year with all three modes, and Eco mode was removed due to issues with DCT (Duel Clutch Transmission).

I have a 2016 ECO model 1.6T and it does have the eco mode. I'd rather it didn't because it doesn't seem to help at all with fuel economy, and just makes the throttle very lathargic. My average mpg is the same with normal mode so I just use that from now on.

I switch it to sport mode when I need to merge onto a busy highway or i'm in heavy moving traffic and need to change lanes quickly.

The 2.0L trims still have ECO mode, though I have no idea why as there already isn't any power to spare. The 2017 and 2018 1.6T/DCT models do not have ECO mode.
I've found the ECO mode does make a MPG difference. My 80 mile daily drive with ECO on averages right at 31mpg. Normal mode averages 28mpg.

Top speed of 75mph for about ten miles each way. Average MPH for the tanks is consistent at 44mph.

Thanks for the info, sorry about posting my query without checking the threads. My Value is an AWD, because that's all they sell in the Northeast. I assume the same is true about AWD. A problem with checking the manual is that it's only printed once, and that before the model year is put in production.

I just purchased a 2018 Tucson Limited with the Ultimate Package and I noticed I had no ECO mode. I took it to the Hyundai Dealership service dept. this morning. 2 hours later they called me back and said the that Limited with the Turbo "DOES NOT" have the ECO mode, just the sport and normal.
