Bottom line: my car doesn't recognize my key code.

I started a zoom meeting on my phone on my way home tonight. When I got home, the meeting was still going, so I turned the ignition off and jumped out of the car with my phone in hand. The car started beeping and when I looked, the shift was in drive instead of park. I put it in park and went back to my meeting (now on my laptop). About 2.5 hours later the car had locked itself and now will not start. Did I run the battery down? Thanks for any insight.

Call roadside and have them jump the battery. Go from there.

I’m sure the battery will be fine since AAA was able to jump it. BTW I’ve done the exact same thing with my sonata. I’ve been distracted at times and sometimes I shut the car off in Neutral and when I exit the car and shut the door it will start beeping like crazy. Next time this happens make sure to push the start button until the start button is turned off so the battery doesn’t drain again.
